Suite No. 7 in G Minor, HWV 432 "Passacaglia" Arr. J. Halvorsen - Händel [Piano] by Fingal Grünbauer

This is the "Passacaglia" movement of the 7th suite of the eight keyboard suites from Händel. These suites were for the first time officially released in 1720 in England under the name of "Suite de Pièces pour le clavecin composées par G. F. Haendel", after it was already released without permission of Händel in Amsterdam, by a music publisher in cooperation with a professional colleague from London. The best known piece of these suites is the last part of the fifth, with the nickname 'The Harmonious Blacksmith', because it is said you can hear the hammer of the blacksmith in the piece. The Passacaglia at the end of the 7th suite is widely known with the violists, since the Norse composer Johan Halvorsen (1864-1935) a arrangement made for the violin. Händel used this piece for a concerto for the organ (HWV 306).
