DIY Easy Fire Wood Storage Rack "Designer EP 7 of 7

Indoor firewood storage for the wood stove is critical but often times having it look nice & having a good flow is often over looked. In this video I'll show how I transformed an empty space between the wood stove & the entry door into a pleasant looking space to store an abundant amount of wood while looking good doing it.

I begin by designing something that not only looks optimal but in my situation using materials I already had on hand. Because i am a carpenter & maker I tend to hang onto left over material to use for projects like this. I wanted to reuse the original piece of glass I had mounted previously so light will continue to enter the small tool/supply storage room behind the brick veneer wall. Luckily its just the right size if I mounted it vertically. I also had 1/2" thick designer plexiglass left over from a job, enough to cover the remaining space. The only thing I needed to figure out was how to make it work. Then it came to me. I covered the wall with 3/4" white melamine, cut the opening for the glass & edged the cut, I then mounted the plexiglass to the melamine leaving a reveal or space for the real glass to slip into. I used silicone to secure the glass.
I then needed to mount shelving for the firewood so I used standards & brackets with wire shelving for this. I used two different manufactures in the video for this with the brackets being the K.V. brand & the wire shelving closet maid . If you were to do this I suggest using closet maid exclusively. It can be purchased easily at lowes.
My design works out great for my situation & imo looks pretty good in the work shop. Hope somebody can take away an idea or two.
