Car seat installation hacks every parent needs to know - The Car Seat Lady

This video shows 2 tricks:
1. Inside/Outside Trick
- This works for all types of car seats - rear & forward-facing - as well as those being installed with LATCH or a seat belt. There are some car seats that have sealed off the belt path in a way that you can NOT pull the belt from inside... and you will typically find your installation much more difficult as a result. Some car seats will allow you to do the trick when installing the car seat one direction, but not the other. For example, Diono car seats do not allow you to pull the belt from inside for rear-facing... but do for forward-facing. Many Graco convertible seats are just the opposite where they typically allow the inside trick for rear-facing, but have a closed belt path for forward-facing that precludes this trick.
2. Seat back recline trick
This trick works on most minivans & SUVS with a 3rd row - and some SUVs with a 2nd row. Most parents who own a vehicle with a seat back that reclines have no idea that the seat back can reclined... so before you say "my vehicle doesn't do this"... read the owner's manual to the vehicle and double check. Make sure you return the seat back to an upright position when you are done (and double check the owner's manual to see if they specify what position they want you to leave the seat back). You may need an extra hand to help you pull the seat back upright.
