Kerala Landslide: 2 Dead, Several Missing After Torrential Rain | News9

Two people have died and several others remain missing after torrential rain triggered multiple landslides in the hilly regions of Kottayam and Idukki, causing widespread destruction and disrupting rescue operations. A house was completely washed away in Payyanithottam, while uprooted trees and landslides blocked roads across affected areas. Rescue operations have been intensified with heavy machinery, including JCB excavators, even as flooding in Erattupetta has slowed access to affected locations. The IMD has warned of continued intense rainfall, with red and orange alerts in force across Kerala. Schools and educational institutions in eight districts have also been closed as a precaution.
