Discover Large Succulents for Your Landscape

Ever wonder how big certain succulents get? Discover what 18 popular varieties look like when mature. This is a rare opportunity to see decades-old succulents. We're at Desert Theater, a large wholesale nursery north of San Diego. Recently I went there to shoot midwinter aloes in bloom. While there, I also video'd large succulents to show you. Most grow in full sun, in fast-draining, decomposed-granite soil, with regular water but no special care. This is how they look in their native habitats---or might grace your own succulent garden as focal points. Typically such specimens get more beautiful (or more bizarre) over time---certainly they get more interesting. Included in the video are aloes, agaves, shrub succulents and ornamental cacti...which range from fuzzy white orbs to living sculptures 8 feet tall! #succulentgarden #aloes #succulents
