1000 Subscribers! Glass High-Speed KONE Lifts/Elevators @ Auckland Sky Tower, Auckland, NZ

1000 Subscribers! These are the Glass High-Speed KONE Lifts/Elevators at Auckland Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand. These lifts were Schindler M-Series lifts installed in 1996/97 but were modernised by KONE due to equipment and reliability issues - The old lifts used to be out of service a lot when it was windy but now the lifts reduce their speed in windy conditions so they are still able to run. The modernisation started around 2013 being completed in 2016. The lifts now use KONE Ecodisc motors and KONE UltraRope - This was the second UltraRope installation in the world! These lifts have a destination dispatch system with buttons inside the lift like usual but with panels on the landing in which you select your floor before you get in the lift. All the floors are listed on the landing rather than having to type the floor in on a keypad which would be harder. The Schindler system had the same setup - The old buttons and arrows directing you to the correct lift are still there. The door has a long open time for obvious reasons. The glass floor panel in the lift is really cool! I don't know why the windows don't go all the way down the shaft as they could. The view from the top is amazing! - The view from the 60th floor is even better! The cut at the start of the ride up is supposed to be there. These lifts travel at 5 m.s.
