Brazil: Bolsonaro greets BRICS leaders on final day of summit

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro welcomed BRICS leaders at the Itamaraty Palace in Brasilia as the second and final day of the BRICS summit kicked off on Thursday.

Bolsonaro welcomed the South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, his Chinese colleague Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the hall of the palace.

Leaders of states were seen posing for a joint photograph before starting the session.

During the two-day event, which runs under the theme 'BRICS: Economic Growth for an Innovative Future', the leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa are to discuss the current state and prospects of cooperation within the organisation, including issues related to economic, financial and cultural cooperation.
