Barbel Fishing - A Red Letter Day

Since June the 16th I have been putting in a lot of hours on the river loddon for its barbel, on a notoriously difficult stretch. After blanking six times I returned Monday evening and fished a new swim, the idea that trip was to keep roving about,trying different swims just to get a bite and locate some fish. I located some fish and a big one at that, hooking an enormous barbel, but unfortunately the hook pulled. later that evening I returned again and at around midnight I had another bite, and another barbel on the end of my line......two seconds into the fight, hook pulled. That coming weekend we had a heavy rain, getting the river up and colored and I was hoping that would get the barbel on the feed. I fished the only three swims where I have had bites from in previous trip, and what a wonderful days fishing I had, two different PB's. please enjoy
