Did you know a mathematician helped end WW2 with a machine?

One of the biggest breakthroughs of World War II didn’t happen on the battlefield — it happened behind a desk.
Alan Turing and his team at Bletchley Park built a machine that cracked the German Enigma code, allowing the Allies to read Nazi communications in real time.
This meant they could predict attacks, protect convoys, and outmaneuver the enemy before the enemy even moved.
Historians say Turing’s codebreaking shortened the war by two to four years and saved thousands of lives — while also laying the foundation for modern computers.
