Beautiful Sunset at Superstition Mountain Museum (09-23-22)

One of the most beautiful evening skies I’ve ever seen.

I’d been going in and out, watching the sky and clouds, for about an hour, when I saw the dog shaped cloud. I started taking pictures, and eventually the clouds moved into just the right position. The sun when directly behind the hole in the cloud that represented the dog’s eye. It looked amazing.

A little later I noticed a really dense storm heading right towards us. I told Steven “Let’s go for a ride”. I set out to look for the ‘Welcome To Apache Junction’ sign. Stopping a few times on the way to shoot a few pictures.

I wasn’t exactly sure where this sign was, but luckily I found it right away. I stopped and shot a few.
We were also watching the lightning show that was happening over the Superstition Mountains.

I drove to the Superstition Mountain Museum to take more pictures.

The lighting was incredible.

Then.. the magic happened.

The sunset in the western sky was just average. But what was happening in the north-eastern sky was really starting to look amazing.

The sky beneath the clouds looked like it was filled with pouring rain, and it was glowing red. So bright that the mountains in that area were lit from the red glow.

The north most part of the Superstition Mountain was glowing red from the sun reflecting off the clouds. It was a BEAUTIFUL sight.

The clouds in the eastern sky, over the church and towards the Superstition Mountains began turning reddish pink. It was incredible.

I was amazed.

People were pulling off the road, and joining those of us who were already out and taking photos. I tell you, I’d never seen anything quite like it. These photos don’t quite do it justice.
