Revit to Twinmotion: Built-in Substitution & Direct Link Workflow
Struggling with keeping your Revit model consistent when transferring it into Twinmotion? In this session, I’ll show you how to use the built-in Twinmotion and Datasmith features in Revit to substitute elements, control dimensions, and transfer your model accurately through a fast and professional visualization workflow.
We’ll explore:
🔹 Twinmotion Substitution Setup: Enabling Twinmotion Substitution from the View settings in Revit and accessing the Twinmotion asset library directly inside the software.
🔹 Asset Replacement in Revit: Substituting Revit elements such as plants, doors, windows, and furniture with Twinmotion assets while managing visibility and element types.
🔹 Direct Link Transfer: Opening Twinmotion directly from Revit, activating substitution detection, and importing the model using Direct Link to keep all replaced elements intact.
🔹 Dimension Control: Matching width and height values between Revit and Twinmotion to ensure accurate proportions for substituted elements.
🔹 Material Enhancement: Applying and adjusting materials such as stone, wood, and concrete, controlling UV scale, reflections, and surface properties.
🔹 Populate & Scatter Tools: Scattering vegetation elements, adjusting size, randomness, and distribution for realistic environments.
🔹 Lighting & Presentation Effects: Creating day and night scenes using Twinmotion lighting systems and enhancing visual quality.
🔹 Exploded Views & Animation: Creating exploded views, selecting specific components, adjusting animation direction, and producing professional presentation effects.
