Once a prominent fortress town, when the Franco led government ordered town to be flooded as part of a dam construction project in 1955, the residents of Granadilla were forcibly evicted. But even after the reservoir had been filled to its brim, the town stood unscathed, basking in the spanish sun, just as it has continued to do in the decades since.
