MIS-DTIF: A New Way to Manage Underappreciated Thoracic Disc Disease
Thoracic Spine Disc Disease is under-appreciated as a source of back pain and related ailments by the spine surgery community. This under-appreciation is primarily due to the fact that the current standard of care for thoracic spine surgery is a very invasive, high-risk procedure which requires a thoracotomy. Our MIS-DTIF technique has transformed a high risk and under employed surgery (thoracic spinal fusion) into a minimally invasive 40 minute procedure requiring a single night’s hospital stay with most patients ambulating just a few hours after surgery.
It is time to rethink the management of thoracic disc disease. What is needed is the proper training to diagnose and perform this amazing MIS surgery.
