Sailing to Sal for Surf!

We leave base camp at Sal Rei and head to Sal with a swell incoming. A really pleasant sail upwind on Lyra, who says catamarans cant beat into wind. 4 Hrs to cross 30 miles...not bad going. We get to walk around the tourist village at Santa Maria beach and spent a few wobbly nights on anchor there. Some anchorages look amazing but they not all equally calm.
We saw the port of Palmera from the taxi last trip and it looked tight from afar. Close up no better and it thwarted our plans... Crazy there is no check in at Santa Maria where all the tourist boats visit. Incredible blue water and a massive beach... would be so much easier for sure!
