Testing Your Water Meter.
If you are concerned about the correctness of your water meter, a bucket test is an easy way to test its precision.
You will need a five-gallon container, something to write and a piece of paper.
First, go to the meter in question and write down the reading or numbers from the display (left to right). Second, go to your faucet and fill and empty your five-gallon bucket three times. After that, return to your meter and write down the new reading. It should have moved two cubic feet. If it is more or less than two cubic feet, it may need additional testing from our water department.
