New Mexico in the U.S.A. in the 1950's
The New Mexico landscape is shown with sheep grazing in a semi-desert. Three cowboys are thrown off wildly bucking horses. After the third one is thrown off, he lies motionless. Other cowboys run to his aid. A white plane with red trim flies through the sky. It says "Trans World Airlines" on the side and "TWA" on the front. It flies above a cloud with possibly agricultural fields below. The plane has two propeller engines on each wing and three upright tail fins. The plane lands. The plane is guided to its bay by a member of the ground crew in a blue overall. Two women emerge. Both have with bows/ties in their hair. The one in front wears a cream hip length jacket with black buttons and collar. She has a large red rosette pinned above her left breast pocket. She carries an outsize black handbag. The second woman wears an all black outfit with a long ruby scarf around her neck. She carries a matching ruby coat and a hat box. They both wear white gloves. They pause and smile as the exit the aircraft.
They are greeted by an air-stewardess as they reach the ground. She wears a white blouse, mid-calf length blue skirt that matches her beret-like headwear. Another flight attendant, possibly the captain, watches the proceedings. Other passengers walk toward the airport terminal. It's white, low slung with dark wood. It looks like a villa from Westerns.
The city of Albuquerque in the 50's. Period cars park in the street while others drive on the road. The tallest building is about 10 stories high. A YMCA building is visible to the right of the shot. Signs for hotels, bars and household appliances are stuck to the sides of buildings. Cars drive down the street in Albuquerque. A bus, possibly school, is parked on the side of the road. A sign for "First National Bank" is stuck to the side of a tan coloured building.
Two women from the plane stroll through the grounds of an historic building with a church in the background. They walk through the gardens of what looks to be an old ranch. To the left is an ox wagon wheel propped up against the support beam of a wooden building. The two women walk up to a wishing well. The first throws in a coin, the other kisses a coin and then throws it into the well.
A wooden structure holds a yellow board. The board says "Sante Fe". It's written in red. Below it says "Founded in 1610. Pop. 30000. Elev. 7000. America's oldest Capital City. Home of the Palace of Governors erected in 1610, the San Miguel Mission built in 1621, the Art Museum and scores of other historical places" Two period cars -one black, one blue-speed past in the background. A TWA plane taxis on the runway. This one is smaller than the previous one. It has a single propeller engine on each wing and only one vertical tail fin. It is also white with red trim with the words "Trans World Airlines" on the side. One propeller is still as the other spins and causes the plane to turn to its right. The same two women exit the plane via the landing stairs. An air hostess waits for them at the bottom. All three wear the same clothes as in their first plane disembarkation. The landscape in the background is flat and barren with grey hills in the distance. The two women wave farewell to the air hostess after a brief chat.
A shot of the city of Santa Fe shows low level buildings. Building signs say "Hotel Plaza" another "Mayflower Café". Period cars drive down the street. An orange pickup truck stands out.
The Palace of the governor in the background is a long slung, white building with a dark wood patio. It has a flagpole flying a limp American flag. Period cars drive past in the foreground. The Cathedral of St. Francis is shown with two cars parked to the left. It is partly obscured by a tree. It has a huge dial over the front entrance with a gold cross at the top of the building.
A weaver works at a loom outdoors. She is a middle-aged woman wearing a white blouse and possibly traditional Mexican skirt. A woman and her daughter watch the woman weave a blanket. It's mostly aqua blue with a pink and yellow check.
A woman in a white blouse poses for a grey-haired artist. His likeness of her bears no similarity to her. They sit outside next to a dirt road. There is a small high behind them, covered with scrubs.
The women from the airplane walk into a low slung white building, possibly a hotel, still wearing the their outfits from the plane. They emerge wearing cowboy outfits:stetsons, shirts and long pants. One woman shows the other her red/brown cowboy boots. They walk past two cowboys. One tips his hat in greeting and then they follow the women, both exaggerating a swaggering walk. A cowboy sits behind the saddle on a large brown horse. They are in a corral. A woman is helped into the saddle by the cowboy who grabs the reigns while struggling to replace his Stetson. The horse walks, bucks and whinnies as they jerk the reigns too tight. They grin anyway.
