Experience the Blitz in a WW2 Anderson Shelter in VR!

An immersive 360 virtual reality experience of an Anderson Shelter in World War 2. Explore and discover how people living through WW2 protected themselves during the Blitz bombing raids.

In November 1938, Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain placed Sir John Anderson in charge of Air Raid Precautions.

He commissioned an engineer, William Patterson, to design a small and cheap shelter that could be erected in people's gardens.

This was named the 'Anderson Shelter', and was first was erected in a garden in Islington on the 25th of February 1939.

They were cold, damp, and dirty, but offered protection from shrapnel and rubble from indirect bomb hits.

During the war, 3.6 million Anderson Shelters were distributed across the UK.

This is a perfect classroom activity for pupils learning about WW2, for remote learning, or for teaching children at home.
