Accor Great Southern Screen - The longest Super HD straight run screen in The Southern Hemisphere

We’ve produced work for some pretty massive screens in the past - including the Lehman's Building in New York, and the Waterloo Station concourse screens, London. None though has been on the scale of the work we’ve recently completed with Involved for the Accor Group.

A few months back we were asked by our friends at Australian design agency Involved to help produce an opening film for a new screen at Sydney’s Stadium Australia - recently named Accor Stadium under a new seven year agreement. When complete it would be the largest LED screen in the Southern Hemisphere, and the longest straight run stadium video display in the world.

The proportions of the screen would be 120m wide and 10m tall. Not only would the screen be massive but it would be high definition too - the resolution would be 9184 x 756px at 50fps.

It’s hard to get a sense of scale from the example we’re sharing, but when you realise that each group of seats under the screen represents a typical cinema audience you start to get an idea.

When we embarked on the project the final size and resolution hadn’t been fixed. The screen was still being built and the modular nature of the design and constraints on materials meant that we didn’t know what the final height of the screen would be.

Despite these challenges it was a fantastic project to work on. Paul P and the team at Involved know the Accor Live Limitless brand inside out, having worked with them globally for decades and, with their creative direction and close collaboration, together we created a compelling showpiece for this massive new canvas.

Accor were lovely to work with - for leaders in the hospitality industry it’s great to see that they walk it like they talk it - it’s a company run by a friendly, smart, pragmatic, hospitable bunch.
