Top 5 QBs to Never Win a Super Bowl

1. Dan Marino – One of the all time best quarterbacks; super bowl champion or not, of all time. Marino played from 1983-1999, a career that would leave Marino enshrined in the Hall of Fame. In Marino’s second season he took the league by storm throwing for 5084 yards, 48 passing touchdowns and posting a passer rating of 108.9. Referred to as the “Most Prolific Passer in NFL History”. Marino lost his only Super Bowl appearance the Hall of Famer Joe Montana 38-16.

2. Fran Tarkenton – One of the most athletic quarterbacks to play to game (for respective era at the very least). Tarkenton was a game breaking scrambler that would render entire defensive lines useless in some situations. In his career he threw for 47,003 yards and 342 touchdowns, while also rushing for 3674 yards and 32 touchdowns. This dynamic quarterback appeared in 3 Super Bowls but was unable to win one.

3. Jim Kelly – Regarded as the toughest quarterback by many during his 11-year career, Kelly reached 4 super bowls (36.36% appearance rate) in a row. The Bills lost all four of these Super Bowls. Kelly was able to master the infamous Bills’ “no huddle offense” later referred to as the “K-Gun” offense. Kelly threw for 35,467 yards and 237 touchdowns in his career.

4. Warren Moon – Starting his career with 6 seasons in the CFL winning the Grey Cup 5 times. He then went on to play 17 seasons in the NFL (23 seasons combined). In his NFL tenure, Moon was a gunslinger throwing for 49,325yards and 291 touchdowns, but also throwing 233 interceptions. Moon never won a Super Bowl, but he always possessed the talent. Had he played his whole career in the NFL he would’ve had more seasons to go for it, but either way he had one phenomenal career.

5. Tony Romo – After filling in for Drew Bledsoe in his 3rd season, Romo instantly became the face of the Cowboys, largely due to an end of game mishap that cost the Cowboys a playoff game. The rest of Romo’s career was built on that mistake. The often criticized quarterback went on to post a 78-49 record over 10 injury marred seasons where he passed for 34,183 yards, 248 touchdowns and only 117 interceptions and a 97.1 career passer rating. Romo was most known for injuries and lack of playoff success, but he was a very elusive passer capable of making incredible plays.
Honorable mentions (in no particular order): Dan Fouts, Vinny Testaverde, Donovan McNabb, Randall Cunningham, and Carson Palmer.
This list only includes retired players (for example Philip Rivers was not elgible).
This is an opinion piece, would love to hear who you guys think should be the top 5.
Also the video is more to discuss positives for each of the players, many of their negatives were left out.

Feel free to leave us your top 5 in the comments below as well as what you thought of this video.
