The Return of Musical Biopics

With the release of Michael, Hollywood continues it's tries at the musical biopic genre and as usual, received with conflicted thoughts. Since Bohemian Rhapsody was released in 2018, the genre found new life, but for better or worse? This video looks at the variety within the genre as I ask the question why so many feel the same, despite so many of the world's greatest artists having the template to use and build an excellent retelling of their lives, these movies seem to be surrounded by the same issues as each other.
Bohemian Rhapsody brought a certain formula, and born out of that success naturally we had loads of musical biopics using that very formula, all the cliche's, despite the fact as far back as 2007 these tropes were being parodied in cinema with films such as Walk Hard, and more recently, The Weird Al Movie.
