La Crosse WI Train Show Part 1

Our informal HO model railroad "club" journeys down from the Twin Cities to La Crosse for the annual train show. We follow the SOO-MILW River Division with our portable HO layout housed in a truck, stopping off at Red Wing for some railfan runbys and pacing along Hwy 61. Another stop is made at Maple Springs, another scenic spot. Arriving at La Crosse we stop at the SOO-MILW roundhouse and engine terminal as a light snow starts falling. The former MILW facility is of course mostly gone today. our next stop is Grand Crossing tower and diamonds between the SOO-MILW and BN. A DM&IR (aka, DMIR and Missabe) SD9 is seen in a BN lashup with a train of high-wide cars up front, including a couple Boeing fuselage cars and a wing segment. A C&NW (aka CNW) switching movement is seen approaching the diamond on the SOO-MILW side to wait for the BN to clear the diamonds. The tower was still fully operational at the time, and the interlocking's various rods and semaphore signal blades were fascinating. The clip ends with a brief look at BN's North La Crosse yard near Sullivan as the snow continues to fall.
