Hello and welcome everyone to the second part of our two-part RS Lyrik fork service series.
If you missed the first part on how to service lower legs I highly recommend watching it before this video. Inner cartridge service can only be done with lower legs off the fork, Removal of the lower legs can be seen in the first video.
Start with unscrewing the rebound air valve cap. Make sure that you let all the air out.
Use pliers to remove the snap ring on the bottom side of the slider and then carefully remove the rebound cartridge. It requires quite a bit of force. Change the rubber seals, one by one. Be careful not to damage the plastic. Inspect and clean all the parts, also the inner side of the slider. We use Power Brake cleaner from Motorex that is basicaly isopropyl alcohol.
When all cleaned and replaced, push the cartridge back into the slider and secure it with snap ring.
Replace the seal on the air valve cap. All rubber seals should be lubed before fitting them.
Check the manual on how much and which type of suspension fluid should you use. Screw the air valve cap back on and tighten it snug. You are done with the rebound side.
You basically follow the same procedure for the compression side.
Use pliers to hold the knob in place while unscrewing it with allen key.
There are two very small screws on each side holding the blue compression knob in place.
Now unscrew and remove the complete cartridge from the slider. Pour out the old suspension fluid.
Change the rubber seal and plastic slider on the cartridge. Use pliers to remove the snap ring on the bottom side of the slider and then carefully remove the rest of the compression cartridge. Change the rubber seal and plastic slider then mount it back. Don’t forget to secure it with snap ring.
Check the manual on how much and which type of suspension fluid should you use - in our case 195 ml of RS 5WT suspension fluid.
Carefully place the compression cartridge back into the slider and tighten it snug. Put back the knobs and you are done.
This is the end of the two-part RS Lyrik service series.
