Sheep Racing - The Grand National

Although Hoo Farm regularly hosts sheep racing, it is only at the prestigious ‘Grand National’ events, like the horse race, that sees such a large field of runners. All of the sheep who compete come to Hoo Farm as orphans. The Grand National course covers just over a furlong and is horseshoe in shape, and as the real Grand National, this race is a steeplechase.

The sheep all have names and race with knitted jockeys on their backs, (yes even the jockeys have names, such as Roger Ram and the only female jockey is called Edna Uwe).
