DESCRIPTION: Spoken English for Bengali speakers — tongue twisters for pronunciation

Improve your English pronunciation fast — specially made for Bengali speakers. In this short lesson Piyashi shows 2 powerful tongue-twisters (“She sells seashells by the seashore” and “Red lorry, yellow lorry”) with step-by-step practice tips to reduce Bengali “stickiness” in the jaw and tongue and gain more fluency.

Welcome! I’m Piyashi — I teach natural, everyday Spoken English for Bengali speakers using fun, real-life practice. This short video focuses on two quick tongue-twisters that target the common Bengali pronunciation issues (retroflex/sticky tongue, jaw tension, and consonant clusters). Practicing these will help you open the jaw, move your tongue freely, and speak English more fluently.

Quick practice method (follow these steps while watching):

1. Slow & separate: Say each word slowly, syllable by syllable. For example: She (sh-ee) sells (se-lls) sea-shells (sea-shells) by the sea-shore (by the sea-shore).
2. Position & feel: Use a mirror. For sh, round your lips and push air gently. For s, place the tongue tip close to the ridge behind your teeth and push air. For r, keep the tongue slightly back and relaxed — do not roll it like in Bengali.
3. Build speed: 5 slow repetitions → 5 medium speed → 3 full speed. If you stumble, slow down and repeat the difficult chunk.
4. Exaggerate then normalize: First exaggerate mouth movements to train muscles, then practice with natural mouth movement.
5. Record & compare: Record yourself once a week and compare — aim for clearer consonant sounds and smoother rhythm.
Practice routine (5 minutes total): • 1 minute — Warm up: open mouth, tongue stretches, humming.
• 2 minutes — Tongue-twister #1: break, practice slow → medium → fast.
• 2 minutes — Tongue-twister #2: same routine.
Repeat daily for 7–14 days and note the improvement.

Benefits you’ll notice

Faster, clearer consonant release.

Reduced “stickiness” in jaw/tongue typical for Bengali speakers.

Better fluency and confidence in short phrases and fast speech.

Easier pronunciation of consonant clusters (e.g., “str”, “spl”, “thr”).

“Practice: 5 minutes a day” / “প্রতিদিন ৫ মিনিট অনুশীলন করুন”

“Break words into syllables” / “শব্দগুলো ভাগ করে বলুন”

“Record yourself — compare weekly” / “নিজেকে রেকর্ড করুন — সাপ্তাহিকভিত্তিতে তুলনা করুন”
