imho, john hiatt has always been at his very best in the company of the 'goners'. the bayou and swamp sound provided by the more than rock-solid rhythm section of david ranson (bass) and ken blevins (drums) plus the outstanding brilliance of slide guitar ace sonny landreth (the 'king of slydeco') leaves nothing to be desired when hiatt's songs get the special treatment by the 'goners'.
