Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin has opened up about facing racism from a young age. The actor revealed that even now, some people refuse to support him simply because he is Black.

Caleb began his Stranger Things journey at just 14 years old, growing up on-screen while dealing with the realities of discrimination behind the scenes. He explained that the hate affected him deeply as a teenager, leaving him feeling unloved because of his skin tone.
Now 24, and with over 13 million followers, Caleb says he’s committed to using his platform to spread positivity rather than hate.

He also shared how he relates to his character Lucas, highlighting that both he and Lucas navigated being one of the few Black kids in suburban environments, while still embracing their interests and passions. He noted that Lucas represents a character rarely seen for boys like him on TV — a nerdy, complex Black teen who is allowed to be fully himself.
