BeeBee and the moths

Bats always seem to do something to show you they are so much more complex than we understand. The food buckets were hung and her friends were eating fruit but for some reason BeeBee was distracted. I was so surprised to see her actively hunt, chew and spit the moths clustering around the heat lamp. There is protein supplement on the bats’ fruit, so she must just like the taste of moths.

Please do not attempt to handle a bat, not only for your own safety but for the safety of the bat too!
There is NO RISK if you DO NOT TOUCH.
Less than 1% of flying-foxes and microbats may carry the deadly Lyssa virus and in the event that you are bitten or scratched, such bat will need to be euthanized for testing for the virus. Please contact and wait for your local wildlife rescue organisation to send a trained and vaccinated rescuer.
I am a vaccinated rescuer/carer/rehabilitator licensed through Wildlife Rescue South Coast, please do not touch unless appropriately vaccinated and trained.
We receive no government funding and have to do our own fundraising to enable us to continue.
