Hattie McDaniel: Hollywood's First Female African-American Star | Cody Crouch

This Month in Christian History: Today, we celebrate the life and accomplishments of Hattie McDaniel, the first African-American woman to become a star in Hollywood. It was clear from a young age Hattie was destined to become a star. Confined to traditional movie roles, Hattie found ways to bring here characters to life so they were enjoyed by both white and black audiences. She would later go on to be the first African-American to win an Academy Award.
