Ukraine: Special forces detain hostage-taker in Kiev bank

Ukraine's special forces detained a man who took one person hostage and threatened to detonate an explosive device at a bank in Kiev on Monday.

Footage shows troops surrounding the branch of Universal Bank in the Leonardo business center before storming in and detaining the suspect.

According to one of the bank's employees, the man initially behaved more aggressively and demanded to call the police and the media claiming that he had weapons.

Earlier, Ukraine's Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko said the suspect was carrying a backpack as he entered the office.  
Gerashchenko mentioned that the man asked to call the police and allowed most of the bank staff to leave, while the branch director stayed there of her own will.  

The suspect was later named as Sukhrob Karimov, a 32-year-old Uzbekistan national.
