How well do you know your chord inversions? Try to play 12 dominant 7ths chords through the cycle of 5ths within one octave. (using a 12 note chromatic scale). A challenging test to see how well you know your inversions of dominant 7ths (1-3-5-b7). You will have two root position chords, four first inversions, three second inversions, and three third inversions. Includes are review of the cycle of 5ths. (to skip review go to 5:28) . There is a download score showing the solution. Included in the score is a right hand melody to accompany the left hand 7th chords. Try to do the exercise before consulting the score. This exercise illustrates the use of good voice leading, and economy of motion.
