How to roll leather to rejuvenate an old dry leather notebook cover

I disassembled an old leather notebook cover so I could reuse the leather for something else. But the leather was dry and stiff ... but with some aggressive rolling and conditioning, I was able to bring it back to a beautifully supple leather with deep, rich color and texture. Of course, the kitties make an appearance in this video (don't they always?).

The notebook I used is similar to this style of a notebook (not this exact one, though). I bought my version of the notebook many years ago and it sat neglected on a bookshelf. So giving it a new life felt like the right thing to do.
