One addition for clarification: In USB Interface mode (8 input and 2 output channels) the R16 always sends remote control data via USB. It's in the DAW where your settings determine if the control data has any effect. So you don't turn the remote control mode on or off in the R16. Recording levels are set with the rotary gain knobs and not altered by the faders. The only set the output/monitor levels. Don't forget to use the Direct/DAW rotary knob (above the master channel peak LEDs) to choose what your actually monitoring.
