SALVAGING STAINLESS STEEL off a SUNKEN WRECK - Episode 29

In this episode we free dive on a sunken sailboat which had been abandoned in the bay. Efforts had been made for the last 2 years to contact the owner to ask him to remove it, to no avail. It was therefore deemed abandoned, and although not worth salvaging, people started removing everything off it, including the mast. However, no one had yet had a go at salvaging the stainless steel off it, so we took the opportunity to try recycle the stainless.

The operation turned out to be a huge success as we show you how we made a bench seat and 2 table frames out of the stainless that we had salvaged.

SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged 2012 Lagoon 450 Catamaran bought in Tortola, BVI at the beginning of 2018. Colin and his friend spent 4 months getting her seaworthy, before setting sail across the Caribbean. Follow our journey as we continue to fix her and eventually circumnavigate the globe!
