Saving Kafue National Park One Step A Time: highlights of the 8 day/160 km trek across Kafue.

This summary video provides highlights of the incredible bush-trek across Kafue National Park, the second largest NP in Africa, to support Musekese Conservation's wildlife conservation and anti-poaching efforts. Jeff de Graffenried was guided by Phil Jeffery of MC and two Zambia Department of National Parks and Wildlife Wildlife Police Officers, Lipoko and Yuram. The 8 day backpack wilderness-expedition, covered territory rarely visited, including the highest point in the park, Mwetumbwe; white sandy beaches of the Kafue River; remnants of old park guesthouses, traditional fishing weirs, and unfortunately encountered fresh evidence of illegal activities such as large-scale fishing camps and elephant and large game poaching. The trek started on the eastern boundary of the park and concluded at MC's Basanga Plains bush camp.

Personal interviews, technical discussions, drone footage and first-hand pictures and film provide rare-views of DNPW ranger's equipment and give viewers an idea of the day to day life of these unrecognized heroes.

This overview is the first of a number of short videos that will use the walk as a platform to explore and investigate various topics that are important to wildlife conservation in Kafue.
