the Perfect Lava Left Run

Most Colorado river trips run Lava Falls on the right. The ultimate climax of Grand Canyon whitewater! But coming out of the V-wave is always a crap-shoot... like a box of chocolates. What with the Corner Pocket, Black Rock (a.k.a.: cheese-grater), Big Cahuna... So we in wooden boats like to run left when its open, which is above 11k or so. If you're on your mark, it has a much more predictable outcome. If not, well, not much different than messing up on the right run I suppose! ;-)
