How Do You Clean a 70+ Year Old 1930's Kodak Junior 620?
Apologies for the pretty mediocre commentary; however, I do hope this can be a little useful for people needing a little guide on how to clean their 620.
In this video, I guide you through the steps of cleaning up the lenses and viewfinder of a German Kodak 620.
Story behind the camera: My Sicilian great grandfather bought this camera while away on business in 1930's Nazi Germany. During the second world war it saw quite a bit of action, despite fairly strict rules prohibiting soldiers from using their own cameras. After the war, in 1951, my family moved to Canada and brought the camera with them.
Roughly 70 years later I was fortunate enough to become its new custodian. I was very lucky to possess it; however, after a while I learned my uncle very much loved his nonno grande (grandfather), and I felt it best for him to have the camera. I will say: He's a very good man, and the camera is still in very responsible hands. I owe my entire inquisitive and mechanically inclined nature to him, so if anything I think he'd take even better care of it than I did.
I'm nowhere near an expert on cameras, so if you have any questions I'd recommend using this forum: http://www.thephotoforum.com/
They're incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
