Shaping wire with a draw bench
At Hatton Jewellery Instittute, HJI's Course Director, Jan Preece, uses a draw bench to shape silver wire that can be used to form links, hinges for all kinds of jewellery. Using the draw bench, Jan pulls the wire through a slightly smaller hole to extrude the silver that gives shape to a thinner round wire. Creating metal wire is an integral part of the jewellery making process.
