Multiple Steps, Multiple Stumbles: Developmental Pathogenesis in a Polygenic Developmental Disorder
Multiple Steps, Multiple Stumbles: Analyzing Developmental Pathogenesis in a Polygenic Developmental Disorder
Originally presented at Carilion Children's Grand Rounds by Anthony-Samuel LaMantia, Ph.D., Professor, Laboratory of Developmental Disorders and Genetics, Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, Director, Center for Neurobiology Research, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine
Learning objectives include:
1. Understand how dysfunction of multiple genes - known as polygenicity - leads to pathogenesis of common as well as rare developmental disorders.
2. Analyze the relationship between polygenic mutation in the genome and multiple disruptions of fundamental developmental mechanisms that lead to behavioral deficits in developmental disorders.
