Lai Ching-te, relying on U.S. support, advocated "Taiwan independence" again in his inaugural speech, inciting conflict across the Taiwan Straits.

However, if a war does really break out, "the U.S. will hang people here out to dry."

As China rises peacefully, "people in Taiwan should grasp this historical opportunity" and deepen cross-Strait exchanges to build a peaceful future.
