Why Foreign Investors Are Leaving India | 4 Reasons FIIs Are Selling
In this video, we explain why foreign investors are leaving India and why FIIs are selling in Indian markets aggressively since late 2024 through mid-2026.
The FII selling in India has been massive.
Global investment funds are dumping massive money.

Between late 2024 and mid-2026…
Nearly four lakh crore rupees exited Indian equities (including stock markets NSE/BSE).
Over 40 Billion US Dollars.
4 major reasons behind this aggressive FII exit from India.
1. The Rupee.
Rupee kept weakening against the dollar.
Foreign investors measure returns in dollars.
Not rupees.
So even decent stock returns started looking weaker.
2. Taxes.
First, look at how big funds work.
Many of them trade very fast.
So every percentage of tax rise matters.
July 2024.
India raised short-term capital gains tax (STCG).
From fifteen percent…
To twenty percent.
Margins became thinner.
Risk became higher.
Long-term tax (LTCG) was also increased.
Suddenly Indian markets looked expensive.
That changed global calculations.
3. China.
Chinese markets had crashed hard by 2023.
So, valuations became very cheap.
Meanwhile India stayed expensive.
So global funds asked one question.
Why buy expensive India…
When cheaper opportunities existed elsewhere?
Money started moving.
Toward China.
Toward Taiwan.
Toward South Korea.
And India started losing inflows.
4. US bond yields jumped higher.
For global funds…
America suddenly looked safer.
Good returns.
Lower risk.
So some global money started moving back.
Away from emerging markets.
Including India.
Now the pressure is growing.
Dalal Street (FII, DII and retail investors) wants relief.
Even the government noticed.
Recently…
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman responded to market concerns.
She said the government is listening.
Investor feedback is welcome.
But there is still no official rollback promise.
And that is keeping markets worried.
So what is the situation today?
Everyone is now looking toward the government for tax relief.
But what do you think?
