AI is here - Stop whining and get on the ball
AI will penetrate all aspects of creativity, no doubt about it. The question is how are we going to make that work for us? Do we have to? I guess that depends on what you do or what you want. To me, AI will be great because with more and more AI made music, I can now promote MY music as being AI free. I'm confident that my audience will appreciate that.
Younger audiences or people already desensitized to muzak will not care where the music is coming from. To them it doesn't matter. As such the music charts and the world will soon be flooded with fake replica music.
With powerful AI engines other people will be able to make uncanny replicas and variations of MY music. It will be 100% fake though as it will only do what it does based on what it's learned, and that will be from the past. It will never know my stories and what I will say next. AI can only look backwards, not forwards. If I decided to make sitar-music AI would never anticipate that. Not on its own.
I WANT to compose my own music, I WANT to sweat recording my vocals, I WANT to pour my emotions into my lyrics and I don't WANT TO have any AI help doing any of those things.
This is how I will promote my work and art from now on as well; "No AI used to make this music".
Using AI will almost be like a collaboration and as many of you know, I dislike collaborations. I prefer to work alone.
AI will also be ruthlessly applied by companies where possible. It will mean that some people WILL be out of their job due to AI. AI will do their jobs cheaper and faster. AI will not complain about benefits, holidays, long work hours or dental. Automation is the strongest power AI have.
Some people whine about these things, but I suggest do something now, BEFORE it's too late. That time is not yet there. Be reactive. Get on the ball and take necessary steps to prevent AI from taking your livelihood.
No fate but what you make.
