Performance-Based Navigation

One of aviation's most important safety and efficiency achievements to date is the move to precise, predictable, and repeatable navigation, referred to as Performance-Based Navigation, or PBN. With the success and benefits of this NextGen navigation program, the FAA has stepped up implementation of PBN across the National Airspace System. The MITRE Corporation's Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD) is a key partner to the FAA in its efforts to establish PBN and to move to PBN-based procedures, which the agency is relying on to meet future growth in demand for constrained airport and airspace resources.

Developed by the FAA with MITRE, this video explains how PBN is opening up new opportunities and solutions across the U.S. and around the world.
