The Best Ant Bait To Get Rid Of The Whole Ant Colony

This is not a commercial. This is my experience with ant baits and the one that works best for me living out here in the woods where ants are a serious problem.

I saw a carpenter ant walking along the wall one day carrying an egg. This is bad news. Very bad. This means that the ants were forming a colony inside my RV. I went out to get some Terro ant bait.

I have two different ones from the same company that I use all the time. They have an indoor version which comes in a clear plastic container. This one you cut a small piece off the bottom and place it out of the way of human and animal traffic but near ant traffic. The ants will find it and empty the whole container in a couple days. The worker ants take this back to the colony and within three days you have no more ants.

The other one I use is an outdoor version. This one has a sort of weather protection but you should place it out of the rain anyway. It comes with some small plastic stakes which I keep for my gardening. You press down the plastic container, which punctures the seal and then give it a bit of a turn. Place it under your home or where ants are entering and leave it. The ant colony will be gone within a few days.

Be careful with the ant baits though because the bait is sweet and animals may want to taste it as well.

The indoor version is very sticky and makes a horrible mess if spilled so make sure it is place out of the way where it will not be spilled. I am talking from experience here. This stuff is a mess to clean up.

Each colony of carpenter ants consists of up to 10,000 ants and there can be up to 10 satellite colonies. This means that once you destroy one colony, dont jump up and down in celebration just yet. More will eventually come. Keep the ant baits out all season to be sure that you do not have another infestation.

Carpenter ants love old dry wood such as found in your home or camper. They nest in the wood and bore through it, ruining the structure and causing serious damage to your home or camper.

When I first got my RV, it had a complete colony inside it. They had formed a nest in some wood framing and inside the styrofoam insulation in the walls. I had to get rid of the colony and do some serious repairs to the RV.

I have tried natural ant baits but this stuff works the best for me.
