Cross Country Flying in a Cessna 172 (Australia) | 11-06-2019
Hey everyone! Join me in my first VFR cross country flight in a Cessna 172 in 4 years. I am accompanied by an instructor who is currently reviewing me.
The video starts off where I will show you how I have planned my VFR cross country flight in a Cessna 172.
I'll then drive to the airport and undertake my usual pre-flight inspections of the aircraft. I will show you some of the things we check as part of the inspection (i.e., fuel quality and quantity, oil quantity).
You'll then join me in the cockpit where my memory is about to be refreshed after 4 years of not flying a plane on a cross country expedition.
The flight plan is:
YMMB-YLTV(L)-YLEG-CARR-APL-YMEN(L)-YMMB
Moorabbin - Latrobe Valley (Land) - Leongatha - Carrum - Albert Park Lake - Essendon (Land) - Moorabbin.
My instructor wanted me to demonstrate a "normal" circuit (at Latrobe Valley), followed by a flap-less, then an engine failure (glide approach).
Overall, great flight! I managed to somehow remember controlled airspace procedures for Essendon airport.
If you like these flying videos, let me know down in the comments.
Total cost: $1,139.60
