There are islands about 400 kilometers from the western part of Mexico. The four islands of Socorro, Roca partida, San benedict and Clarion are called the Revillagigedo Islands. Because Socorro is the largest island and has easiest name to call, we just call them Socorro.

The islands, towering in the middle of the manganese sea, have a rich ecosystem. It is a favorite place for large creatures, from various sharks to humpback whales. Our dive was full of tension and joy from start to end

Socorro had a primitive sea that could hardly be reached by humans. Mantas and dolphins, who are not afraid of humans, represented how much nature this place contains. We've become part of it for a while.

I couldn't bring it all in the camera, but I hope you can feel something from the video.
멕시코의 서단에서 400km 정도 떨어진 섬들이 있습니다. 소코로, 로카파르티다, 산베네딕트, 클라리온의 네 섬을 묶어서 레비야히헤도 제도라고 합니다. 이중 소코로 섬이 가장 크고 부르기 쉬운 이름을 가진 까닭에 이 지역을 흔히 소코로라고 부르곤 하지요.

망망 바다 한 가운데 우뚝 솟은 이 섬들은 풍부한 생태계를 자랑합니다. 다양한 상어들부터 혹등고래까지 거대한 생명체들이 즐겨찾는 곳입니다. 덕분에 우리의 다이빙은 처음부터 마지막까지 긴장과 기쁨으로 가득했습니다.

소코로는 사람의 손길이 거의 닿지 않은 원시바다를 간직하고 있었습니다. 사람을 무서워하지 않는 만타와 돌고래는 이곳이 얼마나 자연을 그대로 담고 있는지를 대변해주었습니다. 우리는 잠시나마 그 일부가 되었습니다.

카메라에 다 담아올 수는 없었지만 영상을 통해 소코로의 일부나마 느껴보시면 좋겠습니다.
