Resuming the family business after leaving camp
Flora Ninomiya grew up in Richmond, California, where her grandfather had established a flower nursery business. A family friend looked after the Ninomiyas’ and two other Japanese American families’ nurseries while they were incarcerated during WWII, enabling them to resume their business upon their release. In this clip, Flora recalls leaving the Amache concentration camp and returning to Richmond.
