CONTAVELO was created to solve the limitations of traditional bicycle derailleurs, especially on folding bikes like Brompton.
This video explains why we built a crank-integrated gearbox as a clean, derailleur-free drivetrain upgrade.

Folding bikes such as Brompton demand compact, reliable, and low-maintenance drivetrains.
However, traditional derailleur systems remain exposed, complex, and vulnerable—especially in urban riding.

CONTAVELO was born from this problem.

Instead of adding complexity to the rear of the bike, we integrated the gearbox directly into the crank.
This crank-integrated internal gearbox (IGH-Crank) removes the derailleur entirely while preserving smooth shifting and ride efficiency.
