Ryan Murphy swims season-best! | Men's 100m Backstroke A Final 2021 TYR Pro Series at Mission Viejo

The men’s 100 backstroke packed a punch, featuring U.S. National Team or National Junior Team in five of the eight lanes in the A final. Current world-record holder Ryan Murphy would go on to touch first in 53.11, dropping over four-tenths from his swim at the TYR Pro Swim Series at San Antonio last month. Hugo Gonzalez and Daniel Carr finished second and third respectively.

“It was really solid,” Murphy said. “It’s nice to go in there with all the Cal undergrads and mix it up with them a little bit. I think it’s great for them too, I think they’re comfortable with guys like me and it’s nice for them to get experience racing a guy like (Matt) Grevers too.”
