Spitting Distance. A Versys-X 300 adventure to Farewell Spit

Finally a a long weekend with a half decent weather forecast. Vicki plotted us a route and we loaded up the Versii for their second attempt at a first camping trip.

- Ram Paddock, Macdonald Downs, Heathstock Roads (0:12)
- Gilberts Road
- West Bank Road (0:37)
- Maruia Saddle Road & Matakitaki Road to Murchison (0:48)
- Tutaki Road north & Braeburn track to Lake Rotoroa (2:25)
- East Takaka Road
- Aorerre Valley Road to the start of the Heaphy Track (3:50)
- Cowin Road to Anantoi River (4:40)
- Wharariki beach
- Cobb Dam Road & Cobb Dam viewpoint (6:29)

Total distance was 1371km over 3 days. We had planned a 4th day but you'll see why we canned it!

78% (1072km) on tarmac and 22% (299km) on metal roads and tracks. 100% FUN :)

Fuel consumption: Best 29 km/l, Worst 25 km/l, Average 27 km/l

The bikes performed flawlessly. The riders not so much. Sore butts and upper back / shoulders in agony. We need to do something about the ergonomics or just harden up.

I forgot to test the GoPro mount on my new helmet and as a result the the video is angled too low :( Oops. Also the drone was in for repairs, but there's always the next time.

The buzzing audio is another issue to solve. Tinfoil around my botch-job linking the comms to the GoPro helped, but occasionally the interference crept back in.
