#FreeCamping - Muskingum River's Luke Chute, OH

The most remote of all of the Muskingum River Parkway Locks, it is named out of spite for Luke Emerson who built several mills on the river. The Dam Emerson built here increased water power on the far side of the river making it difficult for the rivermen to push their boats up the created rapids; in retaliation they named the site "Luke Chute." Luke Chute Lock and Dam # 5 is located right on the river, and one of the few areas that allow motorized camping.

It is amazing to be right on the river in such a nice area. The locals were really nice and the sound of the chute was great white noise. There was not much to do at the park but I enjoyed my time there.
